Patterns can be fun to use in your design and are simple to make. Once you create a pattern you can tile it across any background seamlessly. Patterns are great for web background and other digital media. Photoshop has a built in tool that lets you create random patterns from a solid image. Here’s what you do:
- Open any image in Photoshop or create a collage of colors and tone using the paint tools.
- Use the rectangular marque tool to select any area of your image or painted background.
- Then go into the top menu and find “Filters”. Under the filter menu there is a filter called “Pattern Maker”. Select this tool.
- Once inside the “Pattern Maker” hit the generate button. You can additionally use any of the options within the tool to adjust how your pattern looks. Try changing the height or width to see what different affects you can get.
- Each pattern you generate is saved under “Title History” at the bottom right of the “Pattern Maker” tool window. Generate as many patterns as you like and then scroll through the history to see the one you like best.
