While I was at The Grove this past weekend, I took a photo of a homeless guy who was slumped over on a bench. He seemed to be enjoying his music and relaxing while trying to kick his shoes off, but only managed to get one foot free. For being homeless, I thought this guy was quite organized with his suitcase, and 99 Cents Only Store bag. I walked around the grove for some time, and the guy never moved, other than a few times when his foot appeared to itch and he reached down to scratch it. Not sure how he managed to sleep comfortably like that for hours, but he seemed content. With heavy traffic at the grove, he never once awoke to ask someone for money or even look at anyone passing by. He didn’t even have a hat or cup to throw some change in just in case someone walking by decided to. I wonder what he was listening to, or if he used the headphones to keep his ears warm. Maybe he only has one audio cassette, and his 99 cents batteries to keep him going. Maybe that’s what keep him inspired to make it another day.
